Paddle Sweep Bin Site Requirements

For optimal performance, paddle sweeps are currently designed to be used in circular bins/silos with dry flowable grains. Paddle sweeps are NOT intended for use in high moisture grain storage applications or suitable for non-grain commodities such as fertilizer, lime, etc.  All paddle sweep parts are made to fit thru a 24 inch diameter access point in the bin/silo.

Paddle Sweep FAQ's

WHAT MATERIALS CAN PADDLE SWEEPS BE UTILIZED IN?

Sweeps are used only in DRY-flowable grains. Sweeps are not intended for non-grain applications such as fertilizers, lime, and salts.

What power supplies are needed?
All sweeps require a 3 phase power supply.

Are sweeps available for non-normal bin sizes?
Sweep sections come in 5ft, 3ft, 1ft & 6” lengths, making it possible to customize to non-normal bin sizes. 1’ extension kits are also available.
WHAT SIZE DOES THE PRIMARY SUMP NEED TO BE?

System takeaway capacity MUST be greater than the sweep capacity.

Primary sump size of at least 12” x 12” is required. Sioux Steel sells a 42” x 42” and 34” x 34” center sump options.

Do I need a collector ring assembly?
Collector ring assemblies allow wiring to be ran through the sump and keeps wires from twisting around machine thus making the sweep explosion proof and safe from hazardous sparks.

Collector rings are required for a true zero entry environment. Collector rings are optional on Daay Bin Paddle Sweep
BEFORE SWEEP IS STARTED, MAKE SURE OF THE FOLLOWING:

The sweep needs to be stationed behind the intermediate sumps before filling the bin (sweeps operate clockwise).

To operate, start by adjusting the paddle chain – bolts on each side of the sweep should be tightened or loosened so that they have the same distance, this will keep the sweep running straight.

Make sure the rubber/drag strip is at floor height along the entire length of the sweep and there is distance between the drive end section and the outer wall.
